Default Does anyone know what this is?

I was at the Renaissance Festival this past weekend and I saw the most awesome thing ever: a masked man playing on some crazy bell piano. I did a bit of looking and found an older picture of it.

If anyone can find out if this is a custom instrument (or just an uncommon one), that would be great.

Thanks.

Detrs, I've edited your post to use the downscale pix size tags ( [imgb]......[/imgb] instead of ), and I've made the pic into a link as well so that people can click on the pic and get the full-size version.

My own humble uneducated guess is that it's:
  • either a home-made idea
    or
  • a descendent of Korean musical bell assemblies.

Ah, I see. Well, I still stand by my first post above. It's definitely a carillion of course, but maybe influenced by the Korean history with carillions.

That's cool. I should have done that in the first place.

I can't find out much about that. Care to share? This device is the neatest thing I've seen since Animusic.

Will do thread on bells, bell assemblies, Korean bells and Western carillions in about 2 days' time. Bells are cool.

Will also point out in that thread, if you don't mind, how cathedrals and their bells, and the subsequent bell foundries in the West, so massively promoted the development and improvement of cannons.

If you do mind, will make two seperate threads instead.

Wellington to his aides, observing the big French army in all its myriad different components moving into battle formations on the field of Waterloo, just prior to the battle, to the music of the French military bands:

Sadly, not a clip from the actual best film, just some clip from somewhere else (I couldn't find any clip from that film quickly) :
