Yup. Well, that, and the Laudnum. All that opium can't be good for anyone, let alone when you've strangled your guts.

And their clothing averaged about 30-40 lbs., what with all the petticoats and chemises and drawers and under-petticoats and so on.

I'll never describe a woman as having an hourglass figure again. Not that I can remember doing so in the past, but, definitely not in the future. Not after seeing that. THAT is an hourglass.

Hmmmmmm. The Wikipedia article on Max Hoffmann leaves out a bit (in relation to the Battle of Tannenberg that made Hindenburg's reputation).
Wikipedia says only: Quote:
"Here is the bed that General Hindenburg slept on before the battle. Here is the bed that General Hindenburg slept on after the battle. And here is the bed that General Hindenburg slept on during the battle." |

To explain this next bit; Uhlans were the German cavalry, still used and named as such in WW1.
From here: A corset girds with great élan The waist of every proud Uhlan; So that when he in battle stands, His heart won’t fall into his pants. . Last edited by Gurdur : 24-Mar-2007 at 04:29 AM (04:29). |

Well, it should be noted that on that particular picture, her clothes and the fact that she had large breasts exaggerate the tininess of the waist. Other pictures of her look a bit more "normal"... but not much.

You talking about Prussian generals? Do you know how the dude who was responsible for the KJV Bible dressed up?
![]() ![]() You gotta check out his other pictures in plume hats. By today's standard he would be the best dressed drag queen at pride fests. We are not even going into the French monarchy yet. |

Heh I think that top picture of her looks even 'worse' (ie more waisted) than the original one! I wonder how she breathed? Prolly with very shallow, frequent breaths I guess.

There's a shop near me that sells corsets for the rather ambitious sum of 99 pounds.. made to measure. I presume that people only buy them for things like weddings though.

Gads, I'm glad I like my body as it is. I may bitch and moan that things aren't like they used to be, but I'd hate to not like me so much that I thought I needed to torture my poor tummy into some contortion like that.

That's the "man" that brought us the Bible named after him.... I'm sending this to some people I know who SWEAR by the KJV as being the "true word of God". I'm guessing since "man" was "created in his image", it can truly be said that we were created to dress like fairies... Thanks for the laugh retrow...I know what I'm gonna dress up as this next Halloween.... ![]() |
