Pinko The Jon Stewart And Stephen Colbert Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear

The "Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear" happened yesterday in Washington, D.C., USA. Looks like many over 200,000 people were there, which is one hell of a lot more than the only 87,000 at Glenn Beck's Tea Party rally back in August. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert organized yesterday's rally.

More info here in my blog post, "The Jon Stewart And Stephen Colbert Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear", with pix and links.

Jon's speech at the end makes me glad that he's the most trusted newscaster in the US (according to Time magazine, at least). It was encouragingly sober.

Wednesday's Daily Show guest was Pres. Obama. He was there the whole show.

I watched to see if Stewart would ask the one question I'd ask if I were there.

He wouldn't ask "Why do you insist on playing nice with the Republicans when you know they will not give you one vote? They want to destroy you."

"I am afraid of suffering eternal torment in hell to exactly the same degree that I am afraid Santa Claus will put a coal in my stocking."- AMC

We should start by restoring Stewart's sanity. I suppose there's nothing wrong with a feel-good get-together of like-minded people, though there's no doubt a problem with using that many hyphenated words in a sentence.

But the entire debacle was much too vague. Pitting the peace train guy who thinks it's just all right that Salman Rushdie be killed against the Prince of Darkness seems a bit odd. To me, they're both on the same side.

So there were some fun jokes and some popular singers and lots of people. Then everybody went home and went, "WTF?" Maybe they voted for fewer tea baggers out of shame. I doubt many people converted to sanity.

I still liked the speech, but, yeah, it didn't do squat.
