Default Vatican Rips Film----"Avatar"

I haven't even seen the movie yet, but if it pisses off the Vatican and the right wing whackos, it must have something going for it------------

"Cameron incensed many voices on the right by acknowledging of-the-moment messages about imperialism, greed, ecological disregard and corporate irresponsibility,"

It's the top link in the Google results listing for Yahoo Movies.

Yes, I was exceedingly grateful to the Vatican for once again making a fool of itself, and I incorporated it into my first blog post on the film Avatar. I will be making a good many more blog posts on Avatar, simply because there are so many issues to cover (owing to the attacks on it). The wave of self-righteous, sourpuss denunciations of the film have been surprisingly wide as to the fields they come from, and beautiful in their sheer inane idiocy.

Gosh, if the Vatican condemns it, I'll be sure to see it.

What an endorsement!

I actually am a bit surprised that the Vatican can't tell the difference between worship and respect for the environment.

I haven't seen the film, but here's an example of the outrage that I find hard to understand. Taken from a(n) open board of a gamer group:

Loved the 3D and the special effects. Stunning. The story made me want to ^#%@$!* puke. I'd like to smack Cameron in the face. I strongly regret giving him my $10 to be shoveled more liberal propaganda ^&#@%!*&, protraying corporations as greedy and evil and military marines as murderous jarheads who love to kill and cause suffering for fun. The same old &*^#%@$! tale that humans have "killed" everyhting green on Earth and now they're going to do the same on other worlds...

Can't Hollywood get away from its standard message for ONCE?!? Just once!?! &*$^#@^# they're relentless! Any wonder lots of average people despise corporatations and look upon our military folk with an eye of distrust? How much hammering and hammering and hammering of this &#@^#%!@ message can people take and still have a balanced outlook on the world?

I truly wanted to walk out halfway through the movie in protest and in hindsight I wish I had. The only reason I didn't is because I was there with my wife and two good friends. There was NOTHING original about this movie except for the technology they used to make it. The plot is Dances With Wolves meets An Inconvenient Truth meets Apocalypse Now.

Way to &*$&#^@! go James. You *$*!(#@!#&

It's a happy story, seeing how a °^%& can go so far upwards in the world of semiotics.

The Vatican can't tell the difference between worship and much of anything else either.

You and me both. I had no idea what the film was about other than it was an animated work. Now I have to go see it, or at least rent it when it's on Netflix.

Go see it on the big screen, in 3D. You won't regret it.

because we know how credible, and outstanding the Vatican is with all their pedophiles in their mist that they move around like checkers to cover up such matters. yup, I think I will take all my advise from a group of pedophile, idol worshiping old farts. That would be smart! UGH! I will go see the movie before leaving. Probably Friday night.

Man, if I had the cash, I would so set up producing a film utilising the creativity from Ana H, you and me. Or even a musical for the stage.

I really want to see this in 3-D. But...I'm working 6 days a week right now, and even if a lot of them are short shifts, that is still 6 days a week that I can't make other plans, and the nearest IMAX is 100 miles away. I'll just have to wait until it's out on dvd. At least I'll get to see it free, then.

Then again, there are stories like this one. http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Movi...iref=allsearch But I have been losing myself in fantasy worlds since I first started reading, so I should be safe.

I'll write the music.

An [Avatar forum] user named Mike wrote on the fan Web site "Naviblue" that he contemplated suicide after seeing the movie.

"Ever since I went to see 'Avatar' I have been depressed. Watching the wonderful world of Pandora and all the Na'vi made me want to be one of them. I can't stop thinking about all the things that happened in the film and all of the tears and shivers I got from it," Mike posted. "I even contemplate suicide thinking that if I do it I will be rebirthed in a world similar to Pandora and the everything is the same as in 'Avatar.' "

Other fans have expressed feelings of disgust with the human race and disengagement with reality.

I wonder how long it will be before we have people learning the Na'vi language and painting themselves blue? They're going to be so obnoxious and self-richeous.

Someone just told me about those suicidals today. Nuts.

"Let the world know that the current administration in Puerto Rico denies liberty of press. Let the world know that average citizens cannot enter their own legislative sessions. Let the world know that they cannot protest peacefully without taking a shot of pepper spray or a blow to the head. LET THE WORLD KNOW."

Writing music's not so hard. Writing good music is another matter.
