Thanks.

While re-rating things, I also now realize I have overrated certain books because I really, really enjoyed them. I mean, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy isn't, by any objective standard, better than Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, but I really loved HHGG and it's getting five stars - no way is it getting fewer. It's one of the best books in it's genre, and that counts more to me than an objective comparison between it and "real" literature.

In terms of what books to add or not add, it will take me long enough to add all my "real" books without getting into the things like "XP for Idiots" and such like.

BTW I entered a batch of my "hard" books and by gosh it knew most of them. The one that surprised me the most was Allen Ginsberg's "Entering Kansas City High," which is just a single sheet broadside. It even knew editions. The ones it didn't know were mostly periodicals which is too bad because those are kind of neat and would be interesting to folks with access to university libraries.

I was thinking why start the discussion somewhere else. We can start another thread on HH to discuss some of the books in our lists.

One idea I had was to have each person who wanted to pick a book from their list and tell us what they thought about it. Alternately, we could have each person be able to ask about one book on someone's list. (Downside is there could be a big memory challenge involved there).

It would appear I was generous with the stars, its only because I've only hung onto the books I really love. My strategy for giving stars was ranking how large of an effect the book had on how I view the world.

I'll go along with whatever you guys want to do with our book group.
