Yesterday night I downloaded and installed the Google web accelerator which significantly increases the speed of page loading. I found it particularly useful for forums, since it stores some of the previsited pages in memory and the next time you go back to that page, it just loads it from memory instead of accessing the SQL tables all over again. It loads a fresh copy only if the page previously accessed has been changed since your last visit.
I would highly recommend everyone using the HH (and/or other forums) on a regular basis to install this program, as it would not only reduce the load on the server but also enhance your browsing experience. http://webaccelerator.google.com/ Happy browsing. |

It's a pretty big memory hog. 20mb for such a simple thing? And after a day, it has saved me 6 seconds.
But I'll give it some more time. See if it makes a real difference once I've used it some more. |

I use fasterfox as well. I wonder if they have a cumulative effect, or what exactly do they do together?

After 2 days of usage I too think that Google accelerator is quite a memory hog and at times it slows down the loading because of its prefetching gone wrong. Fasterfox on the other hand works like a charm.
I take back my recommendation for the accelerator. Apologies to anyone who installed it and were disappointed by the performance. |

Yeah, I've now turned it off now, after saving three minutes. Imagine, without it I would be posting this message at 9:42pm instead of now! What would've you all done until then?
