Default Stupid Moronic-Ass Church Sign

Yet another howler from up my street:

GOD PUT HIS GIFT
ON THE TREE
NOT UNDER

I was going to give Mrs. D an English bone china tea set this year ... now I have to put a nail through every cup???

I don't even understand that.

"A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it." -- Max Planck

"On the tree" = crucified.
The thought is that you should look to the cross, rather than for presents.
A fascinating concept, given the amount of money/time that is being spent this month even by the "Christians", on gifts.

Gawd strewth... you just reminded me.

There's this church just down the road from me where they post stupid little messages like this on their sign.

I thought of the apple myself, but then that wasn't really a gift, and the reason it wasn't under the tree was because it was just a sneaky method of guilt-free delivery.

All the gods say that but then they never call.

First thing I thought of when I read the OP was "The same way he left a gift for Mary? Ewww"

There is a United Reformed church in my home village. I don't even know what that denomination is but it has some great signs. Most of them don't mention God or Jesus but they're all quite clever (or what passes for 'clever' for a church). I remember always looking out for it on my way to and from my parents' house.

The only one I can remember now is 'Anger is only one letter away from Danger.'

Maybe they're Jedis.
